How did Republitarian score so high? I'd rate it about a "patty-cake, patty-cake, baker's man" level.
I'm not surprised that so many scored at the HS level (as mine did). Even a minimal amount of journalistic training (I had a course in HS, and wrote a political column for 7 years) teaches you that it is the level at which you will reach the most readers.
I had neighbors who used to criticize me if I used a big word they didn't understand.
I don't know what the criteria is for this little test, but I assume it's a combination of vocabulary, sentence structure, and other things like that.
I could be wrong, but I assume that I'm on the right path.
James Young is quite correct. HS level was the level at which I was taught to write. (Actually, when I worked for the government, we had an editor who made sure that our reports adhered to the 8th grade reading standard.)

I do find it kind of funny that I rated so high...especially considering that I don't really use huge words that nobody knows. I figured my writing is easy to read.
http://www.cunningrealist.blogspot.com is a site that I find very insightful and succinct in discussing complex issues and themes. I highly recommend it to all. And yet is rated only at a Junior High level. So I don't think the quality of a blog is accurately gauged by this cute little test.

Your mom's website is rated High School. I guess it is right on the mark since it is aimed at teaching Spanish to high school students.
I guess she knows her target audience. It is just like your target audience---People like me--heh heh!
In my journalism classes in college, we were taught to write at a seventh grade level. I just ran some of the WaPo's blogs and they came up junior high ... so that's about right.
While I can at least say I write like a genius...I never really thought it would take a genius to understand what I'm saying.
