The Latest Sign That Tim Tebow is Insanely Popular

The top two items in Google Hot Trends are "Tebow Cam" followed by the passage from Ephesians that Tebow had on his eye-black tonight (for those of you who don't know, Tebow is a DEVOUT Christian and has a different bible passage printed on his eye-black for each game).

Tebow ended his college career as a winner, as Florida surprisingly stomped Cincinatti 51-24 tonight in the Sugar Bowl.

By the way, so you don't have to look up the passage, Ephesians 2:8-10 is as follows...

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselfs; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."

Given that this was Tebow's swan song as a college player, I'd say that was a pretty fitting passage that wraps up his career at the University of Florida. I wish Tim the best in whatever he chooses to do, whether it be in pro football (which he should get a good chance, IMO), or in other ventures.

Controversial? Kelly is new Notre Dame Football Coach

Apparently, it's official now. Brian Kelly, currently head coach at the University of Cincinnati, is going to be the next head coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

I mention this because there had been controversy within the higher-ups at Notre Dame over the fact that Kelly is apparently pro-choice, which is naturally a big deal considering this is the largest Catholic university in the country.

Personally, I don't see where a person's abortion beliefs determine how good of a football coach they are going to be, but I understand where the university might have had a place to take issue, since the Catholic church is so against abortion.

Congrats to Coach Kelly, he did a masterful job turning Cincinnati into a top-5 football team, let's see if he can return the Fighting Irish to glory, as well.

BCS Predictions

Well, despite the fact that they did not LOOK like they deserved it last night, I'm 100% sure it will be Texas facing Alabama for the national championship. Personally, I'd love to see TCU play Alabama, because I think they have an offense that would give the Crimson Tide some serious fits.

Brad Edwards at ESPN has the following BCS bowl predictions...

BCS Title Game: Texas vs. Alabama
Rose Bowl: Ohio State vs. Oregon
Fiesta Bowl: TCU vs. Boise State
Orange Bowl: Georgia Tech vs. Iowa
Sugar Bowl: Florida vs. Cincinatti

Can't really argue with those, and there are some very interesting matchups there. Texas/Alabama should be a classic game. Oregon would romp over a vastly overrated Ohio State team. TCU/Boise State and Florida/Cincy would feature a LOAD of offense in both games. GT/Iowa would feature Tech's powerful running game going against Iowa's stingy D. These would be intriguing matchups...though I'd actually like to see TCU take on Florida. That's the only change I would make in those bowl matchups.

Nonetheless, to have 5 unbeaten teams at the end of the year is INSANE! At the same time, it goes to show that good talent is obtainable for lesser-known universities (see Cincy, Boise State, TCU). Things should be interesting post-New Years Day.

Heisman Will Be Decided Monday

This insane college football season has boiled down to two things. Ohio State vs. LSU and the Heisman Trophy winner. I was kinda rooting for a WVU/Missouri championship game, but alas both teams failed me.

- Right now, I'm hoping and praying LSU wins...I only like Ohio State when they play Michigan :)

- As for the Heisman, Florida Gators QB Tim Tebow should win. Tebow set an all-time NCAA single-season record for rushing TD's by a QB...and he also was excellent through the air, as well. However, even more excellent than Tebow's legs and arm would be his girlfriend. She's hotter than one of Tebow's rocket-powered throws.

Hehe, sorry...I couldn't resist. I have heard (and I'm being honest here) that she is an exceptionally bright woman. Brains, beauty, and a Heisman Trophy...Tim Tebow can't get much luckier than that.

In other sports news...

- This weekend will be the Floyd Mayweather/Ricky Hatton fight. It's a battle of undefeated boxers, Mayweather at 38-0 and Hatton at 43-0. The last time Mayweather was in a "big fight" was when he won a 12-round decision against Oscar de la Hoya (that was a bit of a BS decision, in my opinion and in the opinions of many others). Hatton is a brawling, hard-hitting boxer who has a strong jaw and fears nobody. Mayweather is a slick, stylistic boxer who is a much better "point-scorer" than Hatton. However, Hatton believes that Mayweather has never been hit hard by a puncher like himself, and that he will wear out Mayweather and come out of this bout victorious.

My opinion...Hatton will punk out Mayweather, even though I like both guys. Mayweather hasn't faced anyone like this before, and he won't be able to run forever from Hatton, because once Hatton traps him in a corner, Mayweather will have to face Hatton's sledgehammer-like punches.

- Steelers/Patriots...if the Steelers don't beat the Pats, then New England goes undefeated. Simple as that. Nobody else left will challenge them like Pittsburgh will. I think the Steelers can pull out a win, here.

Then again, I also said that the Colts would hand New England their first loss and that the Redskins would give the Patriots a good game, which shows you what I know.
