Fred Thompson on "Meet The Press" this Sunday...
Should be an interesting interview. Let's see how Thompson handles Russert.

Russert/NBC-- Bitchslapped Fred
Either Russert is politically motivated or a pawn of NBC or both. Did you notice the unappealing shot of Thompson from behind facing Russert focusing on a bald spot and that he was phyiscally sitting lower than Russert. I am a Fred-Head, however, Thompson should know better of political view points, that personal view points can weaken your position before being established as a running popular candidate. Where is his charm and political savy that us Fred-Heads are familiar with? Blame his handlers and opponents. I'll stick with him to the bitter end but I do not see this interview as a victory for Thomson but rather for NBC. Regarding the interview the plan was clear, point out Thompson's weak points- that he has a controversial view point on abortion, his jet supports drug transportation and that he has lost considerable weight likely due to his health, and the icing on the cake was to mention that he has or had lymphoma. Why didn't Russert just give an eulogy. The interview should have been a knockout for Thompson, but intead turned out to be him defending himself and his positions. Had he attacked the premise of the interview, his weak points would have been minimized and focus would have been on NBC/Russert attempting to minimize his position. Fred should have shot back at Russert by controlling the message of the interview, Fred will have his day but this day will not be it. He will fight the good fight and will have his die hard fans and supporters, but for God's sake Fred, put the A-holes in their place!
