Apparently, the Democrats were pressured into finding someone by pro-Obama activists to take on Jeff McWaters in the 8th District special election. The choice is Bill Fleming, a business owner.
Fleming stated "This is last minute on a shoe string, but there are volunteers here who feel there should be a choice".
Ya think? The election is Jan. 12th. This will hurt the chances for Dave Marsden in the 37th District against Steve Hunt to replace AG-elect Ken Cuccinelli, as that race seems to be a toss-up at this point. Instead of putting their eggs in a potential gain in the State Senate, they're going to have to divert resources, funding, and manpower into a no-win situation.

The pressure to get a nominee in the 8th District truly came from members of the Beach business community.
We wanted the citizens to have a viable alternative to the Republican, who is wholly beholden to the multinational corporations.
Bill Fleming is a local businessman who knows how to produce local jobs for the working class citizens of Virginia Beach.
Bill's opponent made his money as a medical insurance gate-keeper.
Virginia Beach deserves better and Bill Fleming, a VETERAN and high tech business owner, is just what the citizens and especially the business community have been hoping for.
History shows that Virginians will vote for a quality candidate without regard to party label, or past election results. Having Bill Fleming in the Eighth, will be a great way to expand the acceptance and support for Democratic candidates, and surely is not a drain on resources.
NOW is the time to challenge the Republicans at every level in every region. We owe it to our fellow citizens to provide good candidates like Bill Fleming, who will shine the bright light of truth on the corporate-owned Republicans and their agenda to sell-out our working class to the multinationals.
